Film by Alvaro Colom
Choreography and Dance: Angel Montes, Ruben Nsue, Alvaro Colom
A short dance for film that I made exploring womens alter egos. Enjoy!
This piece explores the concept of breaking free from the constraints, expectations and pressures of society and industry. the dancer is covered in a white powder, which he gradually sheds as his movements become progressively more fluid, metaphorically exploring the process that must be undertaken in his journey to find himself both personally and artistically.
Directed, Filmed and Edited by Jason Elberts

The increase in the elderly population and the political pressure to downsize, places strain on this group to move out of their familiar surroundings at an age when creeping memory loss is a real issue and many are beginning to experience the onset of dementia. My project aims to explore the relationship between memory and place through dance from the point of view of the elderly.
In the case of this film, which is a pilot for the project, I interviewed Maureen Gallagher who lives alone in her house in Newcastle upon Tyne. I interviewed her about her personal experience in the house bringing up her children and her relationships with walls and the rooms then and now.
Her daughter is the dancer in the film so she then interpreted the words of the edited interview. It is also an exploration of the interpretation of spoken narrative through dance which I am also interested in. Then I was able to make music that worked around the piece.

Memory Descent: a serene aesthetic journey.
Derealization is an alteration in the perception or experience of the external world so that it seems unreal. This film is an attempt to recreate that feeling.
Memory Descent follows our dancer protagonist as she plummets into the ocean depths. As she sinks, she interacts with fish and octopi, but never with a surface. Down becomes up- deep sea becomes deep space. From space, Earth’s gravity begins to pull her back toward its center. She completes her uncanny loop, rocketing through the earth’s atmosphere and into the ocean once again. In this serene aesthetic journey the viewer travels with the dancer as space seamlessly morphs and bends during oscillations between sinking and falling.
Check out my Campus MovieFest Film! I had one week to plan, film, & edit a 5-minute (or less) film and I chose to do a dance piece!

Short movie of SEXXX, Matteo Levaggi’s coreography.
This is not about sexuality, but rather about the use and abuse of the dancer’s body, always looking for more strenght, more technique, more speed, often forgetting what ballet is about: art.
Short conceptual film created by multinational team of artists in Kenya. Images of Nairobi projected on contemporary dancers.
This blog was born out of the desire of two film directors to realize dance videos. Various dance videos, characterized by different methods of filming. These videos are caught in places with a strong visual impact, far from ordinary flat stages. The short scenes allow the viewer to meet different dancers from around the globe, to listen to their different visions of dance and witness the short choreography realized by the filmmaker and the dancer during this project.
“Mynah – the dance project” a personal project, in which I want to collaborate with dancers and experience movements, emotions, stories, and these will be included in a series of videos. Ultimate goal of the project is not clearly defined, I just want to succeed, along with the people I will work with to overcome our limitations and to spread the dance.

Bboying meets Brutalist architecture
Photography is realted to the theater. The stage is the frame. The freezing dance pose is similar to photo deduction. The abstraction, paper handling and synthesis of sound and movement is the essence of the piece.
“Music is the key”
Dance is closely related to motion graphics. This is a kind of prototype of daily motion graphics. A dance performance on stage represents and visualizes music. In that work “Music Is The Key” I do combine music, urban dance and motion graphics to create a stunning abstract composition.
The central theme is Visual Music. The combination of the central elements like Dance, Music and Graphics which are include in one media of film under the leading of music create an unforgetable harmony – ” the harmony of music “.
by Ukweli Roach of BirdGang Dance Company, ”DOING MUSIC” follows the journey of one person as he experiences a House-Party where vices of various kinds are rife and seemingly indulged by many.

This film, one created by myself and Sam Murdoch-Rock, is one about gratitude and mindfulness. We attempt to show this through our daily lives and through, of course, movement. We never really know what’s going to come next in our lives, and gratitude is not wishing that your current situation is different. Understanding that this moment is a gift, one which may seem positive or negative, but will always be one which we can learn from. I’m grateful to have my best friend to experience this with, and I am excited to see what the future holds for us. Filmed by Tanner Pare. Edited by Maisie Ryan. Watch, Enjoy, Share.

Hi my name is louis, this is my story. I’m a dancer from vancouver, canada and I made A Dance Transformation video (link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KK5-b6ILNdg) where I took over 100 classes in 10 months in hopes to win a scholarship to dance in LA for a week long intensive training with the best choreographers in the world, currently the contest will be choosing 5 applicants out of over 2000 people and no matter what the result I am happy because I put myself out there. I was surprise to receive messages from people in hawaii germany san diego melbourne even mexico telling me their story touched them, they were inspired, and especially people who don’t even dance but can relate in some way. I filmed it over the course of a year, thought about it for a month, planned it out for a week, and edited it for 12 hours. Straight. I hope you are able to watch my story for even 30 seconds, and i hope you feel the magic I feel, when I dance. Thank you
just wanted to thank you for taking the time to see this submission the scholarship will be announced on Friday april 8th 2016 and the choreographer wildebeast adams will personally fly down to the winners home and present it to him directly
this whole experience has been beyond a blessing i can’t thank god enough for what he’s put me through
Everyone was so shocked at the “process” of achieving your dreams, no one realized how much effort it really takes to get results, so I decided to continue my series with my youtube channel called: BehindABeast a behind the scenes look at my training what i’m reading and my mental/physical preparations in the form of a training youtube vlog.
I hope to inspire the world with my movement, thats all I really want to do,

After “Dave”, the hourlong tribute to David Bowie, Wim Reygaert comes with another movie about a larger than life pop icon: Michael Jackson. In “NEVERLANDING – A Bad Thriller”, we crawl into the mind of the world’s worst King of Pop impersonator. A pitch black comedy that ends with a lot of blood on the dance floor.

A young girl’s internal struggle is expressed through a contemporary dance
The idea behind Pollyanna was born while I was working on my first film. After I won a number of awards for Routine, I realized that I now have the experience and resources to execute the idea. This is a very personal piece to me and I am dedicating it to my mother who has been living with MS for the past 10 years.
Our inner world is complex and we are subject to many emotions: sadness, happiness, excitement, fear, anger. Anger and fear can be destructive as much as they can be creative. I know that my mother is angry at her condition, and I know a lot of people with disabilities experience anger on a regular basis. But anger does not define them. Their disability does not define them.
The girl may be angry, frustrated, scared. But she is beautiful, tender, passionate, and talented. We need to be mindful of people’s emotions and differences while remembering to see beyond them.
Be mindful. Offer your support.

saturate, desaturate. to fill. to fill a void, empty. occupy it. give it presence. fade.
Sature was filmed in an empty space in Vancouver’s historic Chinatown. Built to house a restaurant that never happened, the space has been vacant since the beginning, 30 years ago. In a few months, after resting for so long, it will be converted to artist spaces for rent. I’m struck by the quiet, almost imperceptible life that exists in a space, “unused” for so long… and in love with the lingering ghosts of activity. What does it mean to fill this space? Was it every really empty?
Director/Choreographer/Dancer/Editor/Sound: Jenna Mazur
Cinematographers: Myles Regnier and Daria Mikhaylyuk
Filmed in Vancouver, Canada
We acknowledge that this was filmed on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish peoples including the territories of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh Nations.
Sature premiered June 2017 at MO Show, Vancouver, BC Canada. Full length: 4min 21s
